Today the 33-year-old lives with her two sons, aged 4 and 11, in the idyllic little town of Llucmajor, where she runs the Porta Mallorquina estate agency at Ronda del Migjorn 115. She loves strolling through the weekly markets, meeting friends in one of the many cafés, and exploring the island’s beautiful landscape with her children.
Barbara, for you, what is special about Majorca?
Definitely the diversity. Everything is within easy reach: the mountains and the sea are essentially right on my doorstep. And whether it’s sport, culture or nightlife – I really enjoy the recreational choices and the quality of life in Majorca. Here, beneath the southern sun, you work in a much more relaxed way, and you meet very different and interesting people.
If Majorca were a piece of music, what would it be?
U2 – ONE…Either you love it or you don’t!
What is the first place that you show to Majorca visitors?
The Mhares Sea Club – in Puig de Ros. It has an amazing view from a natural bathing platform with an adjoining chill-out lounge-restaurant that presents extraordinary events (fashion shows, live bands, etc.)
What’s your favourite restaurant in Majorca?
Las Sirenas at S´Arenal marina. It’s a great fish restaurant, right beside the water.
Coming from Portugal, living in Majorca is…
…. a piece of home! The southern way of life and a love of simple things.
