Mallorca is an A-destination, because one seat on the plane and you land on the golf island in two hours. This in turn offers a delicious selection “a gusto” of 24 “campos de golf”. Each of these golf courses can be reached from anywhere on the island within an hour by car. Another advantage of the Mallorcan golf courses is that on most of them you can see the Mediterranean flashing in the sunlight in the far or near distance. Golf courses without a sea view usually compensate by offering a mountain panorama and picturesque Mediterranean fauna.

Mallorca is a golfer’s paradise
The reasons for this are as crystal clear, but also as diverse as the Mediterranean:
Mallorca offers a warm Mediterranean climate with mild temperatures all year round, allowing golfers to play almost all year round.
Tourists may not be able to swim on the holiday island all year round, but they can play golf. That’s why many sportspeople come to Mallorca when it’s cold and rainy at home and their favourite golf course is covered in snow, to maintain or even improve their beloved swing in winter.
The island presents a diverse and breathtaking landscape from the mountains to the sea, framed by pine forests, olive groves and Mediterranean scenery that provide an ideal backdrop for the game of golf. Almost all golf courses on Mallorca impress with breathtaking panoramic views – some of which extend as far as the sea.
Mallorca is home to a variety of golf courses designed by renowned designers such as Robert Trent Jones Jr. and Jack Nicklaus. Most of the courses are equipped with high-quality facilities such as pro shops, driving ranges and clubhouses. There is something for every level. There are challenging courses for experienced golfers as well as easier courses for beginners.
Mallorca has a well-developed tourist infrastructure with a wide range of hotels, restaurants and bars, making it easy for golfers to find accommodation to suit their needs and budget and to relax after a long day on the golf course.
Many hotels in Mallorca also offer special golf packages that include accommodation, green fees and often also transport to the golf courses. These packages are often cheaper than booking each individual element separately.
Most of the golf courses are located to the west of the capital Palma, here we have 11 golf courses to choose from within a diameter of 30 kilometres from Arabella Golf to Son Vida, from east to west and from T-Golf to Golf Son Termens from south to north.
Another focus is on the east coast of the island from Val d’Or Golf in the south to Golf Alcanada in the north with 6 courses. More or less inland there are a further 6 golf courses, which are often only a short distance apart, which a good golfer could bridge if he were to string about 100 tees together. There is only one golf course, Pollensa Golf, on the north coast.
All golf courses in Mallorca have relatively few members and are generally financed by green fees. Whereas on the western golf courses, the English and Germans are more or less evenly balanced. In Pollensa, green fee players from Great Britain predominate. The Mallorcan golf courses are quite picturesque, but on the other hand, this means that most of the courses are quite hilly, so that instead of climbing like a mountain goat with trolleys, many players here prefer the “coche” and can comfortably gondola from hole to hole in a “car”.
Tea time reservation recommended
On the terrace of the Val d’Or club restaurant, you can not only enjoy a great view, but also excellent cuisine
As far as the frequency of players is concerned, it is naturally different on all courses. A golden rule: in the hot summer, a “reserva” is not necessary, during this time there is also a “rebaja” at most courses, at some up to 50 %. At other times of the year, it is advisable to secure a start time; the hotel staff will usually take care of this without any problems.
On some courses, such as Santa Ponca, Son Antem and Arabella Golf, the marshals run a very tight ship, starting a flight of four every 10 minutes and making sure that the game is played quickly. As there aren’t as many tournaments on Mallorca as there are here, and as the proportion of locals isn’t as significant at weekends, there aren’t many more players at weekends than on weekdays.
All golf courses have smart clubhouses, often converted and modernised old fincas, where you can sit comfortably and eat and drink well. The adjoining golf shops are well equipped, but don’t exactly offer cheap bargains.
The world of golf is at home on Mallorca
There are no language barriers at the secretariats, as all employees speak English and in most cases even German. Every golf course has its own pitfalls and its own special highlights, some have better-kept greens, others have wider fairways with dignified vegetation. Every “golfista” has their own dream course, one raves about the view they enjoy while playing golf, the other just looks to see if the green remains immaculate.
