From Formentor to Puerto de Pollensa

Those who love the untamed beauty of bays and peaceful villa settings will enjoy coming with me on a tour of the Cala San Vicente, north of Pollensa.

Majorca

Puerto de Pollensa in Majorca

Naturally, this area is very popular with tourists in high summer but you’ll notice little of this after winding round just a few of the bends along the breathtaking cliffs.

The Formentor peninsula

Let’s take a trip now to a truly magical part of the island’s north which, because of its perfectly secluded and exquisite location alone, has justifiably enjoyed a reputation as an absolutely top spot with wealthy international travellers for decades. Since the Formentor peninsula can only be reached by land via a single road, it offers not only a unique and romantic panoramic view of the cliffs and beach but also another, very important advantage: complete security.

On arrival in Formentor, where there are a mere 50 properties, one has the sense that time is standing still, and one is literally led into an oasis of peace and security. This is most certainly one of the many reasons why the world-famous five-star Hotel Formentor has been able to boast an international, highly exclusive clientele for over 75 years. I might also mention here that two political summit meetings have been held here to date as well, and this is also partly due to the geographic location which ensures that security can be perfectly controlled.

Harbour towns in the north

For those who love the beach and being close to the sea, towns such as Pollensa and Alcúdia naturally also have their own harbour towns.

Puerto de Pollensa

With its sought-after and popular beach promenade, Puerto de Pollensa first and foremost contains one very special area, well known as a premium property location: the Paseo Voramar, or “Pinewalk” as it is known to the British, because of the ancient pine trees that line the promenade.

Directly overlooking the sea and with interesting sea and harbour views, there are many different apartments along the shoreline promenade, as well as venerable mansions, offering superb living quality – with the sea at one’s feet!

Last but not least, one should also mention that Pollensa Bay enjoys cult status with surfers, and kite surfers in particular.

On to Alcúdia

On the third stage of our round trip, we are going to Alcúdia. You will find the beginning of our North Majorca round trip series of articles here.
