Spanish residency law for foreign property buyers takes effect

The legislation, popularly known as the “Golden Visa Act”, gives foreign investors the right to free movement and residence within the EU On 30th September 2013 the Spanish legal gazette – the Boletin Official del Estado (BOE) – announced the eagerly anticipated new Act for foreign investors. John van Eenennaam, born in Vlissingen, Netherlands, has been living in Majorca’s capital, Palma, since 1991. Before moving into real estate, he was involved in the import and export of leather goods and footwear. Since 2005 he has been working as an estate agent in southwest Majorca. In 2012 he acquired the Southwest II franchise licence from Porta Mallorquina and, in June last year, he opened an estate agency on Boulevard Santa Ponsa.
