Ex-handball professional Michael Altenbeck is the new Porta Mallorquina franchise partner in Port d’Andratx

The former German handball league professional and two-times European cup winner Michael Altenbeck has found a new playing field in Mallorca – the real estate business.

On the 1st September 2019 he took over the Porta Mallorquina real estate shop at Carrer de Isaac Peral no. 28 from Karl-Georg Herrmann who has returned to Germany for personal reasons.

The Porta Mallorquina’s newest franchise partner actually came to the real estate company (one of the biggest brokers on the island with 9 locations) as a customer.

”After our decision to move from Sylt to Mallorca we were looking for a property in the Andratx area. In the internet I was constantly confronted by Porta Mallorquina and that made me curious to know how they always occupy the top rankings in Google without advertising”.

He investigated further and discovered that it was a franchise system which was looking for new franchise partners on the island.

The real estate industry is no stranger to him as together with his wife Daniela he ran two furnishing and decoration shops on the island of Sylt after finishing his active sports career.

”Attractive interior design and high-quality properties are closely linked, which is why we were always in contact with the marketing of high-quality real estate”,

described Michael the reasons for his affinity to real estate marketing. As partner in a successful system it was easier for him to change industries than to start from scratch.

Although the family were very happy on the North Sea they preferred the mild Mediterranean climate in the long term. The area around Port d’Andratx is very familiar to them as the family has, for many years, spent its holidays in Cala Llamp where Daniela’s father owns a property in Gran Folies.

In May they moved to Sineu with their son Paul, but this is to be only temporary as the Altenbecks plan to move to Port d’Andratx this year.

”We appreciate here the large selection of restaurants and bars and, of course, the views of the harbour which despite the tourism is still a fishing port”, enthuses Michael over his new place of residence.

”In the mornings we like to go to NOOSA BEACH as they serve healthy food including tasty dishes, vitamin smoothies and juices……in the evening we often go to the nearby Italian restaurant CIA BELLO or down to the harbour to, for example, the Sumarilla to eat sushi, and afterwards to Tim’s for a glass of wine”.

Michael recommends those looking for a very special property to concentrate on the areas of Cala Llamp and Sa Mola.

New Team in the real estate shop

Together with his colleagues Ester Breitenbach, Stephanie Mohr and Linda Meurs the new team in the Porta Mallorquina shop in Puerto Andraitx is almost complete, and currently Michael is planning to recruit a further member of staff for real estate sales.
